1.Our Programmes

Children are the future of a nation. For an emerging country like India, development of underprivileged children holds the key to the progress of the nation itself, and their education is the cornerstone of this progress. But education for children cannot be achieved without ensuring the welfare of the family – a child can go to school regularly only when the family, particularly the mother is healthy and empowered; the family has decent livelihood opportunities and a steady income.

Realizing this, BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH, beginning in the corridors of education, has adopted a lifecycle approach with intensive programmes focused on family health, livelihood and community engagement through women empowerment, which addresses the needs of less privileged children, their families and the larger community.

Education

Mission Education, the education programme of BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH provides basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children, with the belief that education is both the means as well as the end to a better life because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood while also increasing one’s awareness on a range of issues; in the process helping him/her evolve as a better citizen.

Healthcare

BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH on Wheels is a national level mobile healthcare programme which provides curative and preventive healthcare services at the doorsteps of the underserved in remote rural villages and urban slums, besides inculcating a health-seeking behavior in them, which also includes child health programmes in schools.

Livelihood

BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH evolved as a logical linkage to Mission Education, based on the need to provide employability skills to high school pass-outs and urban underprivileged youth to enhance their prospects of employment in the fast expanding retail, hospitality and service sectors.

Women Empowerment

NAARI SHAKTI is a programme focusing on girl children and women empowerment. The USP of NAARI SHAKTI is its innovative and highly effective approach named the ‘4-S Model’ which means Seeking Healthcare as a Behaviour, Support through Education, Support from Men through Male Involvement, and Sustaining Change in the Community.

Empowering Grassroots

The growth of the non-profit sector in India, in the last two decades, has been phenomenal. Grassroots NGOs particularly, by engaging directly with the people, are able to participate in the thought-making process of the communities they work with, and thus have the capacity to bring about long-lasting positive change.

Child for Child

Children are the future of a nation. They are the best change agents, be it in the family or the community in which they live. It is therefore crucial to catch them young and inculcate in them feelings of empathy and conscience so that they grow up as responsible individuals.

Special Support Programme

BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH constantly strives to support and empower individuals, particularly underprivileged children, UNEMPLOYED YOUTH enabling them to meet basic ambitions of their life and realize their potential, make informed choices, resist oppression, fight for rightful existence and facilitate new possibilities and opportunities for them.

Disaster Response

Being a disaster-prone country, India is highly vulnerable to various types of natural calamities due to its geographical positioning. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, Govt. of India, more than 58.6% of the country’s landmass is prone to earthquakes and over 12% is prone to floods; close to 5,700kms out of the 7,516kms long coastline is prone to cyclones and tsunamis; while 68% of its cultivable area is prone to droughts. BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH has provided disaster relief in many such disasters.

Mission Education

Mission Education is a national level programme of BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH, an NGO for education which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children.

BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH, an NGO for poor child education believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there’s no better place to start than in the corridors of education.

Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life; means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one’s rights, and in the process evolve as a better citizen.

BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH educational initiatives include Pre-school [3-6 yrs], Non Formal Education [6-14 yrs non-school going], Remedial Education [6-14 yrs school going] and Bridge Course [14-18 yrs drop-outs]. It is an education NGOM which works for education for underprivileged children who are under difficult circumstances, such as child labour, children of poorest of the parents, children inflicted and affected with HIV/AIDS, street and runaway children, children with rare disabilities, disaster struck children and slum children. Special emphasis is given on girl education and women education, so that they and their families get empowered.

Since its inception in 2002, more than 232,000 underprivileged children have directly benefitted from the Mission Education programme

When Covid 19 struck the nation in 2020, it not only took away lives, but it also took away livelihoods, schooling and employment opportunities for millions of people. Data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy indicates that over 10 million people lost their jobs just in the second wave of Covid-19. As many as 97% households have experienced a decline in income since the pandemic began last year.

We had a dual challenge in the form of a large unemployed youth population and a desperate need for more Covid Warriors in the health sector. Moreover, there was a rising need for a digitally savvy generation to help us cope with the ‘new normal’ and hence reprogrammed its employability training initiative ‘STeP’ to fight these challenges by Training & Up Skilling the youth for employment, specifically for the pandemic era. This livelihood mission is in strong alignment with the Government of India’s ‘Skill India’ initiative. This initiative aims to skill underprivileged youth from urban slums in the 18-32 years age bracket and is operational through 81 centres across 18 cities in 16 states.

So far, BHARTIYA BEROZGAAR MAHASANGH  has trained over 65,000 youth through its GAREEB UTHAAN YOJNA programme and more than 45,000 of them have been placed in over 350 brands across India.
